Teacher Creature
Artist Statement
For my teacher creature poster I chose the Barbie movie poster because I grew up watching Barbie movies and because I thought it was funny. I made sure to incorporate somebody I didn’t know, but I am very bad at names and forgot her name. She is very nice and it was cool to meet a teacher that I don’t have.I mainly used the eraser, blur tool, levels, and color balance to make the piece but these were all new skills to me because this was my first time using photoshop. While creating it I learned how to use levels and color balance to adjust the coloring of the pictures. This helped me match their skin to the character's skin so that they could fit in better. You can see in Steve's face how I used levels and color balance to make his skin tone match the characters and I think I did pretty well. My layers are not very organized but when it came to levels and color balance I created a clipping mask so that it would only change the color for that specific picture and made sure that all clipping masks were above the picture I was using so that it only corresponds to that specific picture. My weaknesses were probably working with shading and color to make it look natural but it's not my fault because John’s face is very hard to make fit in due to his luxurious skin tone. My strengths were navigating in general because I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing while trying to find the tools I needed along with inserting the pictures themselves which were pretty easy to put in. When it comes to my proficiency with photoshop I am probably a 6/10 because even though I was able to easily navigate it and figure out how to do everything myself there were still a lot of tools that I didn’t explore because I had a fixed goal in mind and so I don’t really know how they work.
